Here's What You Will Learn:

This 8-week intensive bootcamp is designed to walk you step-by-step through launching or strengthening your business. Taught by HBCU professors and experienced entrepreneurs, each session delivers real-world insight, practical tools, and a clear path to funding and sustainability.

Week 1: Business Structure & Legal Setup

Lay a solid foundation for your business by choosing the right structure (LLC, S-Corp, etc.), registering your business, securing an EIN, and opening a business bank account. We also cover licenses, permits, and the importance of business compliance.

Week 2: Business Plan Development – Part 1

Begin writing your business plan with guided support. Learn how to craft your mission, vision, and executive summary, while diving into market research, customer analysis, and identifying your competitive advantage.

Week 3: Business Plan Development – Part 2

Continue building your plan with sections on financial projections, marketing strategy, operations, and funding needs. By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear, funder-ready draft of your business plan.

Week 4: Mastering Business Operations for Sustainability

Get your back office in order. This session focuses on developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), time management systems, vendor relations, and setting up the operational tools that help your business run smoothly.

Week 7: Business Financials & Tax Planning

Get financially fit. Learn bookkeeping fundamentals, how to read your financial statements, separate business and personal finances, and prepare for tax season. You’ll also understand basic budgeting and forecasting.

Week 5: Marketing & Branding for Start-Ups

Build your brand from the ground up. Learn the basics of branding, how to create a compelling message, and how to position your business in the marketplace. We’ll also discuss finding your ideal customer.

Week 8: Exploring & Securing Funding for Your Business

Discover funding options available at every stage. Learn how to access capital through CDFIs, SBA lenders, and traditional banks. We’ll also prepare you for pitching, loan readiness, and grant opportunities.

Week 6: Digital Marketing, CRM, and Sales

Understand how to turn your audience into paying customers. We’ll cover social media, email marketing, lead generation, CRMs, and sales techniques that help you close deals and grow your customer base.
